Details

7 Plank Wagon in the livery of Thomas Hunter Ltd, Rugby. Thomas Hunter Ltd were established in 1869 and were based in Mill Road, Rugby, located between Rugby station on the London & North Western Railway and the GEC Works which later became Alstom works. As with many of their contemporaries, Thomas Hunter operated in the construction, repair and hire of wagons, many of which would have been let to small collieries and coal merchants who could not afford to purchase their wagons outright. The company expanded to open repair works at Leamington Spa, at the Great Western Railway station, and also had operations on the Midland Main Line at Barrow Upon Soar in Leicestershire. Following the Second World War, the company moved away from railway wagons and specialised in producing bottle and jar tops. Thomas Hunter Ltd continue to operate from Mill Road, Rugby and now deal with pallets and packaging.
