Class 33 No. 33025 in DRS Minimodal Livery. Direct Rail Services (DRS) are a rail freight company owned by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, making it the only publicly owned rail freight company in the UK. DRS are well known for using Class 20, 37, 47, 57 and 66 locomotives, however, during the early 2000s they also operated Class 33s for a brief period. By far and away the most interesting use, was that of Nos. 33025 & 33030 on a new small container intermodal trial. Their attractive dark blue paint scheme was supplemented by some eye-catching Minimodal decals for this work, which made them stand out from the rest of the DRS fleet. Although the Minimodal venture did not take off, the locomotives went on to work both acid and nuclear flask traffic. Our model depicts No.33025, capturing the unique and attractive livery of the prototype and features fine printing of the various logos and branding that appeared on the real locomotive.
