Class 419 Motor Luggage Van No. 68004 in Royal Mail Livery.

The Bachmann Collectors Club limited edition Class 419 Motor Luggage Van portrays No. 68004 in Royal Mail livery. Built in 1961, No. 68004 was one of ten MLVs designed for use on boat trains from London to ferry ports in the South East, providing additional luggage capacity on these services.

With a decline in boat train traffic, use of the vehicles for parcels and mail traffic increased and in the late 1980s two units received the Royal Mail livery. This striking livery made the two units obvious targets for thieves and in 1989 No. 68004 was the subject of a robbery whilst working a train from Brighton to London Bridge, with the two units being subsequently painted into Network South East livery for the remainder of their time in service. Eight of the ten MLVs have survived into preservation including No. 68004.
