Details

Class 47 Diesel No.47522 ‘Doncaster Enterprise’ in LNER Apple Green. 512 Class 47 locomotives were built at BR’s Crewe Works and Brush Traction, Loughborough, between 1962 and 1968. No.47522 first entered traffic on 9th November 1966 as No.D1105 in Two-Tone Green livery with its first allocation being York. The locomotive was renumbered No.47522 under the TOPS system in March 1974. 47522 received a new No.2 end cab following a collision in 1982 before being repainted into the one-off LNER Apple Green livery for a naming ceremony at Doncaster Works on 3rd October 1987, where No.47522 was officially named ‘Doncaster Enterprise’ by Councillor Gladys Ambler, Mayor of Doncaster. 47522 maintained its 'celebrity status' until another incident in 1990 which once again required a new No.2 cab end. Following the repair work, 'Doncaster Enterprise' was out-shopped in the Parcels Sector Red & Grey livery, remaining in service until January 1999 before eventually being scrapped in July 2000.
