Fowler 0-6-0T Class 3F Jinty No.47445 in the Industrial livery of William Pepper & Sons Ltd. No. 47445 was one of many former British Railways steam locomotives sold for industrial use following the introduction of diesel shunters. No. 47445 was built by Hunslet Engine Company in Leeds in 1927 for the London, Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS No. 7445). It saw service at Crewe South and following a period allocated to Alsager, returned to Crewe South until withdrawn. After withdrawal it was sold to William Pepper & Sons Ltd around 1966 who operated the British Oak site for the NCB Opencast Executive. Known as Pepper's Yard, the British Oak opencast site was at Crigglestone near Wakefield in West Yorkshire. No.47445 continued to operate at Pepper's Yard until 1970, which by that time had been taken over by Hargreaves West Riding Ltd, who sold the locomotive for preservation in June 1970. The locomotive has been a long term restoration project at the Midland Railway Centre, Butterley, where it is currently still under restoration, albeit at an advanced stage.
