We now have limited stocks remaining of ‘Hobbie Elliott’, our London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) D11/2 model. ‘Hobbie Elliott’ is one of a group of locomotives known as the ‘Scottish Directors’, all of which were built by the LNER to a Great Central Railway (GCR) Robinson D11/1 design, with alterations to lower cabs, boiler fittings, chimneys and domes to fit the smaller North British Railway (NBR) loading gauge. All members of the group were named after characters from the works of Sir Walter Scott, ‘Hobbie Elliott’ being the name of one of the characters from ‘Black Dwarf’, first published in 1816.

Hobbie Elliott carries the number 62683 and is decorated in LNER Apple Green livery with BRITISH RAILWAYS wording on the tender. The D11/2 model is available exclusively from the Bachmann Collectors Club in this livery, offering BR modellers an interesting and colourful variation from the usual BR Black liveries which were all so common during this period.
