Our limited edition model of the 5-plank Mountsorrel Granite Company wagon is based on a preserved example found at the Mountsorrel & Rothley Community Heritage Centre – on the Mountsorrel branch line which is between Rothley and Quorn on the Great Central Railway. We recently presented model No. 1 in both N and OO scale to the Mountsorrel & Rothley Community Heritage Centre for display alongside the real wagon.

Club manager Richard Proudman presents the models to Steve Cramp of the Mountsorrel & Rothley Community Heritage Centre in the presence of the real wagon.

The Mountsorrel & Rothley Community Heritage Centre aims to educate visitors on the rich and varied history of Mountsorrel and Rothley. There’s a lot for all of the family to see and do with a nature trail, garden railway, historical displays, and a very popular tea room. There are also regular shunting demonstrations at the former quarry site using wagons with local connections – including several Mountsorrel Granite Company wagons. Further details can be found on here.
